Hello, I'm Kate.
As a dedicated teacher and SENDCo, I aim to promote a life-long love of learning so that every child is able to reach their full potential and achieve their hopes, dreams and aspirations regardless of their learning differences. I am a passionate educator with a nurturing, supportive and calm approach to learning.
I believe in the importance of laying the foundations for future learning and understand that children can face many barriers along the way. As well as improved progress, my role is to encourage your child to develop their confidence and overall self-esteem whilst also aiming to promote independent and resilient learners. Dedicated time, patience and encouragement helps to establish a positive mindset and an improved attitude to learning.

Core Curriculum
English
Tailored support for reading, writing, grammar, punctuation and spelling — plus fine-motor skills (pencil control) and handwriting.
Phonics
Systematic Synthetic Phonics (SSP) to build strong foundations in early reading and writing, and grow confidence and fluency at all levels.
Maths
Targeted teaching from Reception to Year 6 that scaffolds learning and clears up misconceptions, with greater-depth challenge — fluency, reasoning and problem-solving at mastery level.
Communication, Language & Wellbeing
Communication & Language
Strategies for speech, language and communication needs, drawing on Elklan training, deep EYFS knowledge and experience working alongside speech and language therapists.
Personal, Social & Emotional Development
Self-regulation support to help your child understand and manage their feelings, build perseverance, improve turn-taking and form positive attachments.
Specialist SEND & SEMH Support
Consistent, child-centred support for children with SEND and/or social, emotional and mental health needs — guided by individual support plans and the provision set out in a child's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). This includes Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA), anxiety, neurodivergence (ADHD, autism, sensory processing disorder, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia) and learning disabilities.

Support beyond mainstream school
Practical, play-based learning shaped around your child's individual interests, including support for children who are not currently in mainstream education.
Why one-to-one works.
One-to-one tuition is one of the most strongly evidenced ways to help a child make progress — the Education Endowment Foundation finds it can deliver several additional months of progress, with the greatest impact at primary level. My teaching is evidence-informed throughout: small, well-sequenced steps, regular checks to catch misconceptions early, worked examples, and lots of structured practice — all adapted to how your individual child learns best.
Why I don't do 11+ cramming.
Every child deserves to genuinely understand their learning — not just pass a test. My focus is deep, lasting curriculum fluency and real confidence: the kind that serves a child for life, long after exam day. Strong results become the by-product of genuine mastery, not the goal.
